Reputation is a measure of your activity and impact in the game. You earn reputation by performing successful actions like upgrading hardware, software, and skills, or by sabotaging other players. Reputation naturally decays over time, so staying active is key to maintaining your standing.
The following actions award reputation points when completed successfully:
| Action | Reputation Gained | Details |
|---|---|---|
| Upgrade Hardware | + Hardware Level | Completing a hardware upgrade awards reputation equal to the hardware's new level. |
| Upgrade Software | + Software Level | Completing a software upgrade awards reputation equal to the software's new level. |
| Upgrade Skill | + Skill Level | Completing a skill upgrade awards reputation equal to the skill's new level. |
| Sabotage a Miner | +2 | Successfully sabotaging another player's miner software awards 2 reputation points. |
| Crack a Password | +1 | Successfully cracking a target's password awards 1 reputation point. |
Reputation decays by 10 points per 24 hours. The decay is calculated based on the last time your reputation was recalculated. If your reputation would drop below 0 from decay, it is capped at 0 instead. This means inactive players gradually lose their standing, encouraging consistent play.
Example: If you stop playing for 3 days, you'll lose 30 reputation points (10 × 3 days). The decay is applied in full-day increments, so partial days don't count until a full 24 hours have elapsed.
Your reputation is visible on your public user profile. Other players can also see your reputation when they view your profile. The value shown already accounts for any decay that has occurred.
